A fascinating Antique mid Victorian brooch featuring a wonderful hand carved Labradorite monkey face set with Rose cut Diamond eyes. The Labradorite is a well-executed carving, with high relief workmanship showing shape and characteristics in the monkeys face.
Monkey jewellery has many symbolic meanings and was used as a protective good luck token in ancient cultures which regarded the monkey as an intelligent and wise animal.
Labradorite was once believed to have formed from the Aurora Borealis and it’s not difficult to see why as the stone shimmers and changes colour, reflecting the magic of the natural world, showing flashes of luminescent green.
The Labradorite is framed in an 18ct Yellow Gold frame dotted with Pearls and fitted with a safety chain for added security when worn. It’s an extremely collectable and rare antique find and in excellent condition.
We recommend you insure for £4500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
