Here we see the youthful Hadrian in a bold, pleasing strike with an especially expressive look on his face. The reverse of this Denarius is quite fascinating. Featuring Fortuna, the goddess of fortune and personification of luck, this particular expression of the goddess is Fortuna Redux, who was in charge of bring people home safely, often from war. "Redux" means "returning." Here she has her hand on a tiller and cradles a cornucopia, the symbol of abundance.
